October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Annually in October, breast cancer charities increase awareness of the disease and raise funds for research into it‘s cause, prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and care.

On October 19th, Valeda‘s Hope held its 8th Pink and Pearls Luncheon and Conference at the Hilton Frontenac. It was attended by over 200 men, women and teenage girls to become aware and informed. Of course, everyone was dressed in pink and pearls or just simply their version of pink.

The one and only Carol Daniel of KMOX-Radio was our mistress of ceremonies. We honored survivors and breast surgeons. We also honored one business-savvy woman. Eight thousand dollars was raised. The seven foot tall Christmas tree is always a conversation piece. Every attendee received a gift. Dr. Jovita Oruwari and Dr. Lannis Hall gave us what we needed to assist in preventing this terrible disease. Local business owners were able to sell their items and a the live band gave us hope through entertainment.

As always, we are forever grateful for our sponsors and our team.
